What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the major ingredients found in the Cannabis plant. It belongs to a larger class of chemicals called cannabinoids. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, which means that it can’t get you high.
What Is “Cannabidiol (CBD)”?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is the major non-psychotropic cannabinoid derived from the industrial hemp.
CBD has many holistic benefits that have been reported in a variety of clinical studies and
continues to amaze as we discover more. It has been noted that CBD acts as an antagonist to
THC and therefore changes the psychoactive effects of the THC compound. Cannabinoid receptor
1 are found primarily in the brain and Cannabinoid receptors type 2 are predominantly found in
the immune system. CB2 receptors appear to be responsible for the anti-inflammatory and possibly
other therapeutic effects of cannabis. THC works primarily on the CB1 receptor whereas CBD works
primarily on the CB2 receptors with little effect on CB1.
What are “Cannabinoids”?
Cannabinoids are a class of diverse chemical compounds. These compounds are naturally
produced in all living things. Endocannabinoids are produced naturally in the body by humans and
animals, whereas Phytocannabanoids are produced naturally in cannabis and some other plants.
There are at least 85 different cannabinoids isolated from cannabis exhibiting a variety of effects.
The two recognized Phytocannabinoids are Tetrahydrocannabinoil (THC) and Cannabidoil (CBD).
The Possible Benefits of Cannabidoil (CBD)
Although we make no medical claims there have been numerous studies reported showing Cannabadoil
(CBD) to have multiple pharmacological effects including but not limited to:
Anti-inflammatory – making it useful in treating multiple sclerosis and other neuroinflammatory disorders
Anticonvulsant – making it useful in treating epilepsy
Antiemetic (anti-nausea) – making it useful in treating chemotherapy and AIDS patients
Anti-tumoral – making it useful in fighting various forms of cancer
Antipsychotic – Making it useful in treating schizophrenia
Anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) and Anti-depressant – making it useful in treating anxiety and depression disorders
Anti-oxidant – making it useful in treating Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease and numerous other neurodegenerative disorders
Sleep-inducing – making it useful in treating various sleep disorders
